Proxemics, the study of social spaces, was at the center of the work of the VIII edition of the International Symposium “Disturbances in modernity. Proxemics. Humanities and science in dialogue”, held in Florence on October 28 and 29, 2014 at the institutional premises of the University of Florence and Palazzo Vecchio.
Among the various topics addressed, Myriam Revault d’Allonnes – one of the most influential voices in contemporary French philosophy and professor of political philosophy at the École Pratique des Hautes École in Paris – gives an interpretation of the perennial crisis of our times.
Many studies related to proxemics were presented in Florence and among them: food design (topic covered by Professor Federico Brunetti of Milan Polytechnic), the latest frontiers of human-robot interaction in the report of the studies carried out by “La Sapienza” University of Rome and the development of civilization in the light of “desubjectification”, the abuses that can lead to massacres and genocides (starting with the latest episodes linked to Islamic fundamentalism) presented by Antonio d’Angiò of the Second University of Naples.
Once Extraordinary Events acted as the press office, took care of the publicity of the conference and created the related graphic material.
