In Florence’s Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, the photography exhibition entitled “The Twenty Faces of Women’s Tuscany” by Massimo Sestini, winner of the World Press Photo award in 2015.
The exhibition is part of the relaunch of Benvenuto in Toscana-Welcome to Tuscany, a special project of regional interest by Toscana Promozione Turistica (Tuscany Tourism Promotion), with the title “Humanity”.
Twenty portraits of women, twenty faces of the work and professions in Tuscan tourism, immortalized in an instant of their daily lives. From the hot air balloonist, to the lifeguard in Versilia, and the flag waver to the ski instructor.
The faces portrayed do not belong to famous women but to “simple” professionals contextualized in the normal course of their work. They all have the common characteristic of belonging to and carrying out their valuable work in the Tuscan landscape. A land that is envied throughout the world; a land made of nature, history, architecture, good food and art. A mosaic of stories that chase each other through a legacy of knowledge and flavours.
The debut of the exhibition was held at the Teatro Verdi, where for the occasion the giant photographs were hung from the box seats, and then remained on display for a month at Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati. Present at the ribbon cutting with President Giani was the author, photojournalist Massimo Sestini, chief of staff and festival creator Cristina Manetti and Francesco Tapinassi, director of Toscana Promozione Turistica. Once Extraordinary Events served as the organizational secretary.
