Ponte Vecchio colored in gold for a day!
It was during the 96th edition of Pitti Immagine, held June 11-14, that the Florentine bridge was adorned in gold for a day, while the Arno was illuminated with spectacular dancing fountains and fireworks displays.
On Monday, June 10, in anticipation of the Florence men’s fashion show, a tribute to the city and the roots of Made in Italy was conceived.
Marking the 500th anniversary of Cosimo I and Catherine de’ Medici, the theme chosen draws inspiration from old Medici Florence, whose main streets were festively decorated to welcome visitors from all over the world.
On June 10, Via Maggio and Via Tornabuoni were connected by a street furniture route, symbolizing the link between artisan crafts and fashion that helps reinforce Florence’s role and value in the world of menswear.
The celebration
Two festive flag-waving processions will parade through the streets of the historic center until they reach the symbol of the city, Ponte Vecchio, both accompanied by two dancers dressed according to the customs of Renaissance entertainment. In addition, to celebrate the Florentine goldsmith tradition and the historic goldsmith stores still present today, the Bridge was adorned with a gold carpet on which a stage show was held.
During the evening, the city of Florence became the protagonist of an extraordinary spectacle along the Arno River, water and fire became apparent through special effects, pyrotechnics and water gushes. These created a show of great visual impact.
