After the extraordinary success of the first edition in February 2020, for 2024, the “Il Carnivale di Firenze” cultural association dreamed big with a program rich in international surprises. The festival, in collaboration with the Viareggio Carnival, aims to become an annual event and caters to a transversal audience, offering various celebratory highlights: a dinner at Palazzo Vecchio in the historic center and a dance party with a parade through the streets of the historical center.
The exclusive dinner, with reserved tables and strictly carnival-style dress code, was held in the ambiance of the “Salone dei Cinquecento” which, for the occasion, hosted the magical “Regine a Palazzo”, an original fashion show created by the Venetian stylist Antonia Sautter. The proceeds of the evening were donated to support the Villa Lorenzi Project – educational services for the prevention and rehabilitation of youth distress and addiction – and the YOU Foundation – Education for Children in Need – in official association with UNESCO.
The following day, unleashed creativity and shared emotions sparked by the gathering of representatives of important Italian Carnivals in Florence. Along the streets of the center many artists and musicians performed their choreographies and shows. Upon arrival, in Piazza della Signoria, an expert panel of judges decreed the winners of the event based on creativity, originality and spectacularity of the group.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Florence, the patronage of the Region of Tuscany, Chamber of Commerce, Confcommercio, Carnevalia and in partnership with the Viareggio Carnival and the Venetian designer Antonia Sautter, creator of Il Ballo del Doge.
