On the occasion of the inauguration of Pitti Immagine Uomo 88, the Florence Center for Italian Fashion with the support of the Ministry for Economic Development and ICE – Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies, in co-production with the Municipality of Florence, proposed a tribute from the world of fashion to the international guests of Pitti Uomo. For the occasion, two teams of “Old Glories” selected by the Association 50 Minuti competed on the pitch under the name of Guelphs and Ghibellines, recreating the historic match played by Florentines on February 17, 1530 as a sign of mockery and challenge to the troops of Charles V who besieged the city. The procession of the Florentine Republic, made up of over 500 participants all in Renaissance dress, accompanied the start of the celebrations. Following, two convivial moments: the first along Via Magliabechi dedicated to the performers and footballers; the other, in the Cloister of the Basilica of Santa Croce, dedicated to international guests.
Once Extraordinary Events took care of the organization of the event, managed the technical-bureaucratic relationships with the institutions involved, took care of the creation of the graphic material, managed the lists in collaboration with Pitti Immagine, coordinated the selection of suppliers and took care of the set-up and catering service for the two dinners.
