SPECIAL PROGRAM OF EVENTS

June 10, 2019: a tribute to the city and the origins of Made in Italy as an expression of international success. The Florence Center for Italian Fashion, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and the Oltrarno Promette 2.0 Committee, dedicates the opening evening of Pitti Immagine Uomo n.96 to Florence and its international guests. On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Caterina and Cosimo I de’Medici, via Maggio and via Tornabuoni are joined by a route of street furniture, flags and banners to symbolize the close link between artisan crafts and fashion. The latter reproduce Renaissance fabrics selected in collaboration with the Prato Textile Museum.

The contemporary nature of this message of union is further reiterated with a moment of performance on the Ponte Vecchio, a symbol of the city: to enhance the Florentine goldsmith tradition and the historic goldsmith companies that live on it, the Bridge is covered with a gold carpet on which the Huma Show set design is staged.

A further element of surprise on the inauguration day is the fireworks display and dancing fountains along the stretch of the river between Ponte Santa Trinita and Ponte alla Carraia: special effects, games of pyrotechnics and jets of water for an intensely spectacular show.
